The Lord God was bored made the 2 great lights,
and set the greater light to the day
and the lesser, the night—
and the stars.

The Lord God was bored many yrs. later made a 2nd. moon,
and pinged off the postered utility poles
and it stole over the living room
and moneyed the dark.

The Lord God was bored before moon no. 2 was grown
and did a passion play the lead was made of mud
and took money from Peter
and he paid Paul.

The Lord God staged the man 5 yrs. before he paid Paul
and he took 790 sq. cms of skin from his back
and gave them to a burned woman
and his legs.

The Lord God retired his actor lacquered his hair
and dug the dirt from under his nails
and blinded him
and died
and heaven.

The Lord God comes home in the dripping dark
and sends the salamanders running
and he gets wood off the stack
and makes moon no. 1 moon.

Private Function

Light flickering in fine rods
of casuarina, thrusting
down, making that sound it makes.

Where would it have come from? Night skates,
awaiting its due: blackening
spoon, ringed by blue, skimmed

the grease, and the bulbs—
swaying in the garden fade
like spots of lividity on a nape,

Not making a sound.
I have nothing to protect myself
kissing a shirt in the dark
trying to feel the damp.
